There are several dive shops that offer lessons in town and dives out to some islands and other dive sites. I’ve been told that the marine life is fascinating on these dives.

You can also snorkel from the beach and see a lot. There are surf tours to places like Ollie’s Point and Witch’s Rock, and Tamarindo is about an hour’s drive away.

There is no surf at the beach here (and no rip tides either) so the beach is safe for swimming and children. There are also several national parks nearby, great for day trips. Sport fishing, bird watching and canopy tours are also very popular and nearby. The howler monkeys about a block towards the beach are fun to watch, too.

El Coco has many restaurants, stores and some nightlife where you can hear and dance to lots of latin sounds. Walking around town, visiting various shops and relaxing at the park are great ways to spend a day. There is a small park in the center of town where you can get these delicacies called, “granizados”.
