October 31st Mascarada Puppet Days : A Tico Tradition that we can Enjoy with our Family and friends

Costa Ricans don’t put any importance on Halloween. Halloween is basically and adopted holiday and one celebrated almost exclusively in places where there are lots of foreigners. This is Capitalist Celebreation…I invite you to Celebrate with your family and friends a very nice Tico tradition :  Mascaradas Puppets Day on October 31 st.

La Mascarada is a parade of giant masked figures.

Mascarades or Costa Rican puppets are used in parades and in many other celebrations with  band of traditional Costa Rica Music (Cimarrona) . Everyone danced with the puppets joining in. Kids enjoy it more than anybody.

Masks  are made with paper. They are shaped and painted to look like characters from stories told long ago in the Costa Rican tradition or some funny character.

Rhe main points for this clebration is in Cartago, Escazu, Aserri and Barva . Escazu has a long tradition to manufacture Mask for festivals.
